In this article, we explain why a direct debit might not have worked.
If a direct debit fails, we as a company receive a notification from your bank that a return debit has occurred. You can usually check the exact reason for the return debit on your bank statement or contact your bank directly to ask for the reason.
There can be several reasons why a direct debit did not work. These can be as follows:
- not enough money in the account on the debit day
- account no longer exists
- the bank details have changed
- there is no valid SEPA mandate (direct debit authorization)
- the debit was objected to
If your bank details have changed or the SEPA mandate is invalid, please inform your studio immediately and have the data updated. This way, you avoid further return debits or reminders.
