In this article, we inform you about how to recognize a returned direct debit on your account.
When we collect contributions from your account by direct debit, you will see the debit either on your account statement or in your online banking.
As soon as a returned direct debit occurs, the debited contribution will be credited back to your account. You will also see this credit in your online banking or on your account statement. It can happen that the direct debit return (credit) is only shown on your account a few days after the actual debit.
So there may be other debits and account transactions between the actual debit and the credit.
Many banks also inform their customers separately about a returned direct debit.
There are also reasons why no direct debit return (credit) occurs because a debit does not take place in the first place.
These include:
- Account closed
- Invalid IBAN
- Invalid SEPA mandate
In these cases, a returned direct debit cannot be recognized because the collection is rejected directly by the bank without a prior debit.
